ABOUT
Starting out
Growing up, I often spent time on creative projects such as drawing, writing short stories, and making greeting cards. I enjoyed using my imagination and being a part of the creative process--transforming my ideas and thoughts into something tangible.
As I got older, school became my priority, so art was placed on the back burner. After graduation, I focused on starting my career and as a result, art continued to be an afterthought. Gradually, my paint brushes gathered dust, markers dried up, and sketch pads got tucked away at the bottom of the shelf. |
The art of leadership
Interestingly, it was while working on a project for my MBA class on leadership that I became motivated to be creative again. The assignment was to take key leadership theories and deliver a final project and accompanying paper that applied the theories to our own work life.
I decided to do a cubist-style painting, turned the painting into a digital image and used an online application to make image into a puzzle design. The essay, titled "Leadership Perspectives" discussed the importance of situational leadership and the parallels between a painter and a leader. The painting was titled "Perspectives". Though I was a bit nervous about presenting my project to the class, my gamble paid off. The positive feedback from my classmates and professor boosted my confidence and encouraged me to paint again.

Looking forward
This website is part of my attempt to stay creative and not let creative pursuits drop by the wayside again. Whether by painting, drawing, taking classes, or other personal growth activities, I would like to stay creatively engaged and expand my comfort zone--documenting the process and my reactions along the way. It should be an interesting adventure!
