The images above are the starts of two new pieces. I don't have a final result in mind, but I want to treat these two as part of a series.
I was tempted to enroll in another acting class this summer, but I decided not to because I felt like I needed to devote more time to painting. It's been too long since I last picked up a paintbrush.

Posters I designed for my clown classmates. Each of them provided a quote which I incorporated into the poster. My main goal was to showcase the individual and unique personalities of each clown.
I just finished another clowning class this past Monday. Because many students from the clowning 1 class continued on to take clowning 2, I knew most of the others in the class already, which was great. It allowed us to move forward quickly without needing time to get to know one another.
The theme of clowning 2 was to do more pieces out in public. We ventured outside to do various pieces with our classmates. Despite going out in clown gear, that didn't generate much attention from passersby. For our final project we worked in small groups to develop piece addressing a social issue. This piece was performed in a public space. My clown partner and I performed our piece in an alley and our social issue was about gentrification. It was a challenge at times to work in an alley because of the various environmental factors at play, but we continued with it for the sake of art! The above cartoon was something I created for the class as a parting gift. It was created in Photoshop Elements and it had been many years since I had worked in Photoshop or done any digital drawing so it took me a while to get a hang of it again, but I'm pleased with the final results. |
