"Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide." by D.W. Winnicott
I can't quite explain it, but the quote resonated with me.
I recently came across a quote about artists that I found pretty true, at least for myself:
"Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide." by D.W. Winnicott I can't quite explain it, but the quote resonated with me.

I started this piece a while ago. I didn't do anything with it for the longest time, but I finally decided to complete it before the end of the year. This is one of those pieces where I don't know which orientation works best. I've been rotating it left and right, but I haven't settled on which I think works the best.
It's been ages since the last time I designed a logo. Actually, I don't even remember when I last did it. However, recently I decided to create an logo for the improv practice group that I'm a part of, called Tsunami Brainz.
The process was a bit tricky because I don't have photo editing or illustration software that would allow me to play around with layout and experiment with different elements. When I used to have the right software, I was able to test out different designs and quickly get a feel for how a change might look, without committing much time to the effort. If I didn't like the way something looked, I just reverted back to the original. No harm done. Unfortunately, I don't have that software now so I had to work with paper and pencil/pen. I went through a few rounds because sometimes I would like one aspect from one design and another aspect from another design, and had to combine the two elements into a third design by tracing. Wasn't the most efficient process, but I most definitely got some practice time in as a result. |
