![]() Employee Art Show Flyer I will be participating in another employee art show again next week. The nice thing is that the show will be up for a full week. In other places that I've worked with art shows, it has usually been for only one day, mainly because of space limitations. The art show next week will be held in the lobby which also provides the opportunity for non-employees to see the work as well. Here's a section of the promotional flyer for the art show. They used one of my pieces in the flyer so that was nice! (It's the colorful painting of a vase.) I had wanted to do some new work for the show, but didn't have the time, so I ended up having to pull from my inventory of past paintings. Hopefully I will be better prepared next time! I will report back on the art show afterwards.

![]() Another employee art show is coming up this year in May. I've signed up to participate but unfortunately, I don't have new work at this time to submit. I may have to use pieces I created last year. Maybe if I get in a creative frame of mind, I'll be able to do some paintings in time. In any case, here's the flyer for the art show and my painting from last year's show is shown on the top left. This year, the organizer's are also considering performing arts. Good to have something to motivate me to do some art! ![]() Interestingly, the last three places I've worked have all held art shows. This week, I have four paintings displayed at work. There are works from about 40 artists being shown and the work varies from quilts to mosaics to photography, poetry and installations, but I don't remember seeing much abstract art. It's nice that the show is running for an entire week to give people a chance to look around. I remember the first time I heard about an employee show, two jobs ago. Seems like it's gaining popularity among companies nowadays. For the first two years, I refused to participate because I was too intimidated to show my work to anyone outside of my immediate family, but oddly, it was because of project for an MBA class in leadership that finally gave me the confidence to share my work with others. There wasn't enough time to create new pieces for this show, but luckily I've been taking art classes this year, so I had a series to show! Always nice to see that employees have a life and interests outside of the office! There's been an interesting trend in workplaces holding employee art shows. The first time I heard about such an art show was two employers ago. My previous employer had an employee arts and crafts show as well. Now there's another one coming up in November.
The last two places I worked actually allowed art sales, which I never quite understood. The upcoming showcase won't allow sales but the nice thing is that it'll run for an entire week. We have to actually email photos of our work to let the organizers review and approve of it before they'll let us participate. Also, we'll need to be present during the lunch hour one of the five exhibition days to discuss our work. I was hoping to have time to create some new pieces for the show, but I'll need to submit the images of the art by next week, so I don't think I'll have time to do a new series. In any case, I'm excited about this employee art showcase. I better get to work creating or selecting my pieces! |
