
We used special scratch art paper and a wooden stylus to scratch out the black layer to expose the colorful layer below. When working with this paper, try to avoid getting fingerprints on the surface because that will make it hard to scratch through. You can also make your own scratch art paper. Good excuse to play with crayons again!
It was an interesting way to think about drawing, trying to decide if I want to have black lines or have black as my negative space.
Here are two examples I created. They're unfinished, but I'm not sure where I want to go with them at this point. I may just leave them as they are for now until I get more ideas.
Overall, it was a fun exercise. I plan to try some more scratch art using my own paper.
