As mentioned in my last entry, one of my projects this year is learning how to refinish some furniture. Here's a photo of an old desk that I hope to save and return it to a useful life once again.
It's a sad-looking little desk right now. The drawer on the left isn't actually missing, though. I just pulled it out to start sanding it. Nevertheless, there's a bit of work ahead.
I used this desk when I was a kid . I stuck some stickers on it and even carved an "A" on the surface for fun. It';s been in the garage for ages and was going to get tossed in the dump, but I wanted to give it try to refinish this desk.
I figured it would be a low-investment piece to work on. If the results were disastrous, I wouldn't feel too bad and if it ends up looking nice, I can feel proud that I can it a second lease on life.
So far, I've sanded the first drawer and started on a second drawer. I been sanding by hand, but I think I will use an orbital sander next time. I also have to remove some old stickers too.
Should be an interesting experiment. I'll post some more photos as I make progress on this project.
