Rather than have shoes strewn about all over the floor near the entrance, we bought a bench to contain the shoes and provide a place to sit when changing shoes.
I didn't want to just place the shoes in the bench, so I thought about repurposing some old shoe boxes. Of course, I couldn't just place shoe boxes as they were with their various brand markings, so I decided to put some design on the side facing the entrance.
I debated various designs and finally settled on flags of countries I've visited. It would have meaning and most importantly, it wouldn't take tool long to design. From left to right the flags represent--Italy, Spain, Germany and Sweden. Okay, if you know your international flags, you may realize that the Spanish flag isn't accurate. It actually has a design in the center, but I wanted to keep it simple and didn't want to spend too much time on the project, so I left it out.
